Diagnosis of Uremia

The following tests are usually conducted by the healthcare provider to know how well the kidneys are functioning:

  • Blood tests: With the help of a blood test, the doctor usually checks for the presence of a chemical waste called creatinine and urea in the blood. Based on the creatinine, the glomerular filtration rate of the blood is estimated. GFR is the measure that lets you know how efficiently your kidneys are working. The GFR level of 90 mL/min tells how much blood your kidneys are cleaning every minute while 15 mL/min is a sign of kidney failure.
  • Urinalysis: Urine analysis to check for the RBCs and presence of the protein in the urine. If your kidneys are not healthy, they may allow some protein to skip through their filters.

What are the Causes of Uremia?

Uremia is caused by conditions that cause irreversible damage to the kidneys. This is usually done by the conditions that slowly give rise to chronic kidney disease. Due to some well-being conditions, the kidneys become unable to squander out the waste from the body and eliminate it in the form of urine. Resultant, the waste accumulates in the bloodstream and causes a life-threatening condition, uremia. During the uremia treatment in Ayurveda, these causes of the condition are eliminated first so that the kidney disease never appears again.

The causes of chronic kidney disease are the underlying causes related to uremia and include:

  • High blood pressure: High blood pressure is the reason as well as a cause of the problem among kidney patients. The fluid that gets deposited in the bloodstream is again transported to the kidneys for their functioning thereby obstructing their normal function.
  • Diabetes: Another leading cause of the development of kidney problems. The low insulin level in the blood harms the bloodstream of the kidneys promoting chronic kidney disease.
  • Polycystic kidney disease: The condition in which many sac-like membranes appear at the boundaries of the kidneys. PKD causes extreme pain when the cysts on the kidneys get ruptured or busted.
  • Any inflammation in the kidneys: When the kidney’s filters called glomeruli to get damaged, they may not allow toxins to pass through them. The disease that appears because of the damage to the glomeruli is called Glomerulonephritis.
  • Enlarged prostate: Any obstruction in the prostate can result in their enlargement leading to CKD in men.
  • Some types of cancer: There are various cancers that increase the risk of developing CKD.
  • Other conditions that can raise the chance of having CKD include kidney stones, kidney infections, UTI, excess consumption of antibiotics, exposure to toxic metals, etc.

What is the treatment for uremia?

To cure uremia, there are two allopathic procedures available called dialysis and kidney transplant, but with the help of uremia treatment in Ayurveda, you can eliminate the condition completely unlike dialysis or transplant. The approaches to dialysis or transplant leave the patient at the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure. The high blood pressure is the reason why people die of dialysis than chronic kidney disease itself because they cannot survive the consequences of such painful procedures. The other approach to chronic kidney disease is the use of ayurvedic medications for the rejuvenation of the damaged cells and tissues with the herbs available to us in abundance by nature. The use of herbs like Punarnava, Shirish, Kaasni, and others promote kidney function by cleaning the channels of the kidneys. According to Ayurveda, the channel involved in the healthy participation of the kidneys is mutravaha srotas. These channels let in and out the fluid from the kidneys. However, if you keep on avoiding such conditions that impact the kidneys, the renal triggers. Thus, ayurvedic medications tend to assure that the kidneys remain viable and functional. Taking uremia treatment in Ayurveda will even eliminate the need to rely on dialysis like procedures.
